Young people learning with Bongo RC cars
What We Do

School & Youth Programs

Our RC school programs and competitions are structured around the six Engineering Habits of Mind (EHoM) that characterise how practising engineers think and act: systems thinking, problem-finding, visualising, improving, creative problem-solving, and adapting.

The ‘Think like an engineer’ pedagogy

When a student builds an RC car, they engage in systems thinking, understanding how motor, battery, signal, and chassis interact. When they diagnose a fault, they practise problem-finding. When they map a racing line, they are visualising. When they adjust their car setup between heats, they are improving and adapting. When they draw on repair knowledge to fix a controller, they are applying creative problem-solving.

What we offer

It is STEM that feels like play, and because of that, it sticks in a way that worksheets simply don't.

In-school Workshops

We arrive with cars, track, and facilitation, your classroom becomes a pit lane. Students design, build, troubleshoot and race in a single session that fits inside your existing timetable. Typically 1.5 to 3 hours. All ages from 6 upward.

Holiday programs

2 to 5-day camps during school breaks where students go deeper, car setup, basic electronics, teamwork, time trials, in a fun, safe, and structured environment.

Club Activities

We help schools and youth groups start and sustain their own RC clubs, with kits, coaching and a simple curriculum, so the learning keeps going long after our visit.

Competitions

Friendly inter-class/club races, demonstration days and showcase events that celebrate effort, spark curiosity and give every young person a moment to shine in front of their peers.

Who it is for

Students experience all six Engineering Habits of Mind as play, competition, and achievement, and not as abstract subjects.

Primary schools

Playful, age-appropriate sessions that introduce technology through doing. Students steer, crash, fix, and try again, building curiosity, fine motor skills, and early confidence with how things work.

Secondary schools

Deeper engineering and problem-solving sessions aligned to STEM learning outcomes. Students connect classroom theory to real mechanisms, electronics, and the careers those subjects lead to.

Youth Clubs

Inclusive programs for all skill levels, from first-timers to keen hobbyists, where everyone has a role, and every young person belongs.
